If you’re a little like us and feel a little bit mad for dumplings at the moment, but wouldn’t mind satisfying your dumpling desires amongst stylish surrounds, then Ruyi Dumpling and Wine Bar in Melbourne city is just the place for you.
Designed by Melbourne design firm Hecker Guthrie, the calm, cool and oh so muted dining room interior is filled with fixtures and fittings and individual wares sourced from around the globe that now happily co-exist together in the modern day Chinese restaurant. Wooden stools have been sourced from Milan, timber and concrete pendant lighting from France, 70′s tiles salvaged from an old store in Melbourne’s Brunswick and tableware by Melbourne based ceramic artist Andrei Davidoff. The result is a successful fusion of natural materials with repurposed pieces to create a positively harmonious space for diners to enjoy.
Translating to ‘as you wish’ Ruyi is the collaborative effort of Sheng Fang and wife Qian Qian Luo-Fang who sought to share their love for find food and wine with fabulous design.
Who knew dumplings could be so sophisticated and stylish?
